Biography


Darina Maleeva, the distinguished violinist and laureate of the prestigious French award "Charles Ullmont", has been described by Devi Ehrlich as “one of the finest modern violinists, with exceptional talent and musical nature.”

Born in Sofia in the family of a pianist with an international career and a prominent geologist, it combines the inspiration of music and the beauty of crystals in a unique artistic path, recognized on the world stage.

Darina Maleeva performs in prestigious halls, like Steinway Hall (New York), Gaveau Room And Museum of the Invalides (Paris), Yokohama Theatre (Japan), Palace of Catalan Music (Barcelona), hall Bulgaria (Sofia).

Participates in festivals such as Festival Chopinin Paris, Brantôme Classic FestivalFestival Impromptu(France), The sounds of a summer night (Sweden), Austrian Music Weeks, Sofia music weeks…

He graduated from the National Academy of Sciences "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia in the violin class of Prof. Ginka Gichkova. He continued his studies at the Paris Higher Conservatoire, Paris Normal School of Music and the University of Paris VIII. He specialized in baroque music at the University of the Arts in Bern (Switzerland). Among her teachers are Devi Ehrlich, Rolan Dogarei and Sergei Kravchenko.

He has a master's degree from the University of Paris VIII, and later defended a doctoral thesis, dedicated to Caesar Frank. Darina Maleeva rediscovers the forgotten work of the composer - Melancholy, published by the French publishing house "Henri Lemoin" in its edition. Together with pianist Pietro Galli presents the world premiere of the complete works for violin and piano by Cesar Franck at the festival Piano Roi in Brantom pers 2001 G.

He is a laureate of the "Charles Ullmont" prize of the French Foundation and of the Grand Prize of the International Spanish Music Competition.
Prez 2004 G. the French ambassador to Bulgaria hands it to her “Foreign Office Medal” for her contribution to Bulgarian-French cultural ties.

With a commitment to environmental causes, she founded the association "Friends of Music and Earth", which through 2017 G. was awarded the medal of the city of Orsay (France).

Darina Maleeva recorded several CDs and participated in a number of radio shows – and television shows, among which “De si, from the “ по France Musique и “The eternal music” according to BNT.

Premieres a number of contemporary works, among which they are Concerto for violin and orchestra by David Lampel and Variations on a Bulgarian theme for harp and violin not Jean-Bernard Beauchamp (ed.. Henri Lemoine).

Gives master classes in France, Bulgaria and Japan and is a member of the jury of a number of international competitions.

Darina Maleeva regularly performs in a duo with the pianist Xavier Lecomte de la Bretonerie, presenting unique programs of rare and unperformed works. Their CD « Integral for Violin and Piano by César Frank » has received outstanding international reviews, as well as 4 stars of the French magazines Classic And Pinched.
